ACE and LLACE enjoyed Members Weekend’s events a ACE and LLACE enjoyed Members Weekend’s events a lot and we hope you did too!

Let’s start with the ACE and LLACE trivia night. It was so nice to collaborate on an event and we hope you liked it and learnt some fun (literary or not) facts about Antwerp. 🇧🇪

Now, concerning ACE’s murder mystery we had a lot of fun scheming Waffle’s disparition and watching everyone struggle to find the answers. 🕵️ We were really happy to see that everyone was so invested. You can see above the picture that had been sent while Waffle was being detained but thankfully we got him back so all’s well that ends well.

As Commissary of Internal Affairs your job is to m As Commissary of Internal Affairs your job is to make communication between the board and the committees flow smoothly. That means keeping track of who's planning what, when, and sometimes even why - and making sure everyone knows what's going on. You usually learn all about these things by participating in weekly meetings with ACE and LLACE, and then pass the news on during the board meetings. Your responsibilities within the committees may vary depending on their needs and wants from the board, and vice versa.
Other than that you offer support to the rest of the board members, helping out wherever you can in taking care of event preparations, or other smaller tasks that may arise during the year.
In all honesty, I would recommend this position to people who are just starting out with taking on some responsibility beyond themselves, and also don't have too much time to invest into Etcetera, but still want to reap the benefits of being in the association. As my fellow board members have stated before, being on the board gives you endless opportunities to get to know people, improve and learn new skills, and freshen up your student life a little bit. I've also had the privilege of forming close bonds with board and committee members through my position, so if you're looking for a group of kind, smart, and entertaining people, Commissary of Internal Affairs may be the job for you!
Summed up, my tasks entail social media & website Summed up, my tasks entail social media & website management, promotion, newsletters, and collaborations with other associations.

As External Affairs, you’ll be in charge of our socials (website, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), and you will be the one doing all the posting. Part of the job is also making the posts, so it’s always a nice opportunity to let out your creativity. With social media comes the aspect of being the person that people can reach out to whenever they have questions, so you’ll also be the one in charge of all the private messaging. That, in turn, is a good opportunity to get to know our members.

In addition to the social media aspect, you are the one who’s putting together the newsletters, and who’s the contact person for anything outside of the association for potential collaborations. These collaborations mean that you will be attending meetings for said collabs, and that you will be the one relaying all that info to your fellow board members. In case Etcetera is the one putting together a joint event (like the annual Halloween party!), it is your task to be chair of that organisation, meaning that you will be the one leading and organising meetings, and distributing tasks to other people.

I wouldn’t want to swap positions with anyone, really – it is a great opportunity to develop creative and writing skills, as well as to improve your time management and organisational skills. Being the External Affairs of Etcetera has also given me the opportunity to be more confident, especially in terms of leadership and organisation. It is also (simply put) a lot of fun, and while it can be stressful once in a while, your fellow board members are always there to lend you a helping hand and to provide guidance and support whenever you need it. I’m so grateful that I got to do this board year with the other four beans, because the amount of support and love we give each other is so special and something I will always hold dear to my heart. The board experience is so much more than just working in an association – it’s about working together as a team, which undoubtedly leaves to a personal connection with each other that is incredibly valuable.
As Secretary of Etcetera, your tasks can be summed As Secretary of Etcetera, your tasks can be summed up as taking minutes during meetings, book sales in collaboration with Athenaeum, and keeping track of the email and memberships.

The Secretary takes minutes during all Board meetings, thus making sure that all dates, tasks, and everyone’s contributions (especially funny quotes) are carefully noted down. This is all done on Etcetera’s Google Drive, where you keep track of the association’s important files and current memberships, and have free reign to organise a system that works best for you and your colleagues. Perhaps the most daunting task is the book sale with Athenaeum at the start of each semester, which takes time and planning with you at the forefront, but will be over before you know it with the help of your colleagues and our points of contact at Athenaeum. I will also be available to help you along anytime!

You will be the point of contact via email, and thus have the chance to correspond frequently with faculty staff and fellow associations, which is a rewarding way to build a strong and positive rapport between our student body and department. Although there is an efficient system set up and template emails ready to use, you should probably be one of those people who likes having zero emails in the inbox, not a thousand unread ones. It is also in your power to delete random emails you simply don’t like the font of ;)

In general, being on the Board is an enriching and fulfilling experience, and just the right thing for you if you wish to become more active and involved in our student body. It is a wonderful way to meet new people, and to explore your strengths and improvements at a professional yet friendly capacity. I would highly recommend this opportunity, which proved to be a valuable, transformative, and useful experience for any future career!
Do you like budgeting and money-management? Are yo Do you like budgeting and money-management? Are you organised and good with numbers? Are you not afraid of responsibility, making hard decisions and occassionally saying ‘no’? Then being Treasurer of Etcetera is perfect for you!

As Treasurer, you create budgets for the association and keep track of all of the money that Etcetera spends and earns. You make sure that the activities that Etcetera organises are financially feasable and apply for subsidies and grants. You play a crucial role in the organisation of big events and keep in close contact with several external organisations.

I never even considered being on the board of Etcetera but I cannot be more thankful to my friends for roping me in and beseeching me to solve their board-without-a-Treasurer issue. I have gained so many valuable experiences this year, not only in the field of treasury but also in the field of management and corporate communication. More than anything, I am forever grateful for the incredibly close friendships I have formed with my fellow board members and the wonderful new people I have had the pleasure of meeting by being on the board of Etcetera.
Do you like being in control? Are you not afraid t Do you like being in control? Are you not afraid to take the lead? Can you ensure everyone is being heard and feels comfortable? Then the position of Chair might be the perfect fit for you!

As Chair you lead meetings and events, you step in and help where needed, and you are the face of Etcetera. You also ensure everyone on the board (and on the committees) is doing well and can handle whatever they are doing. You take charge where needed and make decisions if the board isn't in agreement.

I really like being Chair as it's such a nice way to learn about the inner workings of the association as well as the university. Though I have to say that the most fun thing working with people! My board is the loveliest group of people and going through all the ups and downs of the board year together has bonded us for life. I learned so much about teamwork and what it means to be a part of something bigger!
