Study Association Etcetera
What better way to spend an afternoon than to supp What better way to spend an afternoon than to support fellow students and their hard work? On April 12th, LLACE and Writer’s Block came together to talk about the newest issue of our beloved student magazine, and we had the honour to welcome some of the writers who got their wonderful submissions published! Whether we talked about photography, poetry, or the heartwarming editorial, we had a great time. If the smiles in the picture are anything to go by, it is safe to say that this collaboration was a success! If you missed the book club, but still want to read the issue (which you should, honestly), go head over to WB’s website!
As the academic year is rapidly coming to the end As the academic year is rapidly coming to the end already, the production of the yearbook is in full swing and we thought it’d be a good idea to give a little introduction. We’re a small team this year, as you can see, but we definitely have some fun things planned! Maybe we’ll even reveal some secrets in the issue.. For now, keep an eye out for stories over the next few weeks for some fun professor superlatives, we’d love to see your votes:)

As the year is coming to a close we are looking fo As the year is coming to a close we are looking for new board members! Are you interested in leading Etcetera through the next academic year? Keep an eye out on our socials the upcoming weeks as we will highlight the different positions and aspects of board life. Already know what you want to do? No worries the application link is already in the link tree!
The man, the myth, the legend🌟! We are gonna wa The man, the myth, the legend🌟! We are gonna watch a film/movie🎥 about the writer who has a whole ass course about him. We would also like to emphasize his Irishness🇮🇪, for our trip to Dublin. So please come and join us for a fun movie/film showing of Wilde on the 21st of April at 15:00🕒 at PCH (the exact location will be shared later on).
Sun’s out, spring do be springing and we will be Sun’s out, spring do be springing and we will be taking you to the springiest place there is in Amsterdam. The best part of being a hobbyist reader is findin The best part of being a hobbyist reader is finding new books you just HAVE TO recommend to other people. The worst part of being a hobbyist reader is… nobody ever respects your recommendations! Sometimes there’s really no way around it. You either make your peace with your peers losing out on hidden gems and beloved masterpieces or you resort to violently shoving these treasures into their hands. Well, what if I told you our next event could help you with that?
If you, too, happen to have a tome that you absolutely adore and violent shoving is not exactly your style, go ahead and join our book exchange event! Choose an English* book from your catalogue (we do love a good mystery but please try to pick one without unidentified stains!), make sure to wrap your chosen one nicely (send it off to a thankful recipient in the finest of silks or Lightning McQueen packing paper – the choice if yours, really) and prepare to let us know why you think it’s the perfect pick for a summer afternoon or a delightful companion on public transport rides. Enjoy the opportunity to infect others with your love for a unique title and delight in the chance to discover a new one to add to your favourites in exchange!
Sounds fun? If yes, we’ll see you in PCH on the 26th of April. The event will start at 5PM and we’ll update you on the room we’ll meet in soon! 😉
*works in translation are absolutely welcome 😊

Our midweek trip to Ghent was an absolute success, Our midweek trip to Ghent was an absolute success, from medieval castles to hip hostels! We had a fantastic time with some lovely food (plus some super expensive waffles). The memories we made will always be cherished forever and TraCE is so happy that we could spend this time with you ❤️
The pleasure that the narcissistic human brain der The pleasure that the narcissistic human brain derives from encountering a piece of writing, raising a patronizing eyebrow and nonchalantly noting: "I could have done it better!" is addicting. Actually committing to testing your perceived creative superiority and forcing your butt to sit in place and make something beautiful, though? Not so much. Bah! Committing to the act is one thing... Sharing the fruits of your labour with the world, though? Risking becoming not the raiser of the eyebrow, but the one at whom it is raised?! Mortifying! And yet people still do it... Isn't that just the coolest? 😊
If you’re considering joining the brave few who dare expose their work to the eyes of the public or if you’d simply like to have a look at what brews inside your peers' brains, join LLACE’s next event prepared in collaboration with Writer’s Block. We promise to shed some light on the process of creation of the students’ creative magazine and discuss our favourite of picks from its 49th issue. You can grab a free (can you imagine?!) copy from the stand next to PCH's entrance or visit the link in the Linktree and check it out online! Hope to see you there on 12th of April at 17:00 in PCH!

With their minds soaking the precious information like sponges, I am almost surprised we didn’t all leave the room a few pounds heavier! Jokes aside – big thanks to Dr Carr for hosting the event and helping us combat the dreaded writing-induced pain and suffering!
In case you missed it you can now find the slides on the linktree!

Dear all, As the winter is coming to a close, ACE Dear all, As the winter is coming to a close, ACE thought it was about time for a KARAOKE NIGHT to let off some steam and celebrate the end of the block with you all! We can’t wait for all of your renditions of high school musical songs, your favourite Britney song, or whatever else your heart desires. Come meet us at karaoke bar The End on wednesday the 22 of march from 20:00 onwards (This will be instead of our normal bi-weekly drinks so we will not be at the Gaeper this week!). We can’t wait to hear all of your (beautiful) voices.
Take it in, everyone - March is upon us! With it, Take it in, everyone - March is upon us! With it, comes the time of new beginnings. Naturally then, is it not our duty to celebrate by introducing ourselves to a new literary love? Ursula K. Le Guin’s “A Wizard of Earthsea” – a charming first in a beloved fantasy series sure to inspire in you a sense of awe and wonder – is our personal choice for this Spring’s affair. If you, too, have been waiting for someone to save you from the terror of springtime cleaning and provide you with a suitable excuse to push off decluttering the attic (a task that sounds romantic and cool but is, in fact, a terribly taxing struggle against critters of varying sizes) until next year, you are very much welcome! You can thank me personally when you stop by Athenaeum Boekhandel on March the 20th at 4 PM and join our discussion. Hope to see you there!
Did you survive the first semester? Treat yourself Did you survive the first semester? Treat yourself with one of our lovely tote bags! The tote bags are a great way to rep some ETC merch or even show your love for literature with the Emily Dickinson quote on the other side. We can’t wait to see all of you walking around with them. Interested? You can find the merch link in the Linktree.
