TB: Denise Mina Talk

With the Alumnikring Engels and LLACE, award-winning crime author Denise Mina gave attendees an insight into what it is like to be an author, what crime writing entails, how to start a novel, the importance of talking about income in the arts, and what the challenges of writing crime are without glorifying the criminals and their acts. Mina reminded everyone that if you can tell someone a story, you can write a story – you just have to focus on writing one sentence after the other, while it is also important not to compare your first draft to the finished edited script of an already published novel. After talking freely about her work, Mina answered questions that you raised, and it was certainly a pleasure to hear all of the interesting responses that she gave. Are you inspired to write your own crime novel yet?
